From Grain to Glass

What does grain to glass mean?  For Five Points Distilling's Lone Elm brand, the best explanation is that we do it all?  We get soft, red winter wheat, our primary grain, from a local farmer.  We mash, ferment, distill, barrel age, and bottle all on site in our Forney, TX plant.

Our Whiskey is pot-distilled in small batches and then barreled for a minimum of two years in new small, American White Oak barrels.  Those barrels allow flavor and color to mature into what becomes our award-winning Whiskey.  The resulting Whiskey provides a nose and palate that are in great sync.  Top notes of dried fruit, buckwheat, and vanilla dominate and are well-supported with dark chocolate and black pepper.  The eye-pleasing, copper color and pleasant medium warm finish combine to awaken your senses.  Recommendations for sipping our Lone Elm Wheat Whiskey are highlighted in an Old Fashioned, Sazerac, Manhattan, neat, or on-the-rocks.  Our 2015, 95 rating from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge Competition (ultimate-beverage.com) further describes in detail our "extraordinary ultimate recommendation".

Our Vodka, like our Whiskey, is made from wheat.  The end result is a sweeter vodka with less alcohol burn than one gets with mass-produced vodkas.  Our Vodka is triple-distilled, and carbon-filtered.  The Vodka is aerated and allowed to rest for 24 hours before bottling to deliver an exceptionally smooth spirit with a pleasant mouth feel.  Tasting notes are honey, vanilla, and chocolate at the front, with a clean, crisp, smooth finish that is highlighted but not overpowering.  It's great in a Cosmopolitan, Dirty Martini, or simply chilled with a lemon twist while also lending unique appeal to your craft cocktail of choice.
